Recycling is broken. Let’s fix it.

We're a modern recycling service tackling low recycling rates in the U.S. Join us in building a better future.

What we do

Recycling in the US Needs a Revolution.

In the United States, the overall recycling rate is approximately 32%, with significant variations across different materials. About 68% of paper and paperboard and 50% of aluminum cans are recycled, while only around 8.7% of plastics are recycled. Glass containers see a recycling rate of 31%, e-waste is around 15%, and batteries lag behind at 5%. These statistics highlight both the successes and the areas needing improvement in the nation's recycling efforts.

We understand the challenges of recycling complex materials that often end up in landfills. Traditional recycling programs typically handle common items like paper, plastic, and glass, but many other materials are left behind. Boxifly Recycling is committed to filling this gap by providing innovative solutions for hard-to-recycle items. See our pickup list here.

Our mission is to transform the recycling landscape with a modernized and user-friendly approach designed to enhance recycling rates for hard to recycle items. Our goal is to minimize waste, protect natural resources, and empower communities to adopt sustainable practices.

“The greatest threat to our planet is the belief that someone else will save it.”

Meet our Founder

Laura Dobos

Fueled by a passion for sustainability and a mission to address the low recycling rates in the United States, Laura launched Boxifly in Austin, TX. Witnessing excessive waste from online shopping after becoming a parent and years of corporate business travel, she realized there were limited solutions for hard to recycle items. After immersing herself into research on recycling rates and limitations of single stream recycling, Laura realized she needed to act. As a mother of two, she is driven by the aspiration to create a greener and brighter future for her children. Her mission is to provide innovative and accessible recycling solutions that make a significant impact on the environment and encourage more effective recycling practices in the community.
